How to use it

Safe and Easy Assembly of the Baby Backdroplet

Please follow all safety precautions. Damage to the rods or possible injury could occur if they spring away unexpectedly. It’s not actually hard but we want to be sure people are safe. It’s springy, like a tent pole is when it’s under tension. Don’t disassemble or assemble with children in the room until you are very comfortable with the process.

One thing we love about the Baby Backdroplet is the small storage footprint size. When you’re ready to set up, remove the bungees from the rods and get the connectors out.

First make the top circle. Insert the three black rods into the connectors as shown below, matching the color coding on the rods and connectors, making one very long rod.

Put the third connector on the end of the right side and hold the rod + connector in your right hand. Step on the center of the rod to keep the whole thing in place.

Check the connections and verify that the rods are fully inserted – the  colored marking should be close to the connector.

Reach over and pick up the left end in your left hand. Bring the ends together in the middle and press down to make the whole thing into an oval with the flat part on top. Insert the left side into the connector to make a circle. This is easiest when the left end is going straight into the connector – that’s why you press down to make an oval, so the rod will be going straight into that connector.

The rods are very tough, but we’ve found it’s possible to crack the ends if you put too much pressure on them where they enter the connector while assembling the circle. So don’t step near a connector as you put the circle together.

Put the circle on the ground with the connectors facing up. Make sure that the knobs are facing inward. If they’re not, rotate the connection until they are.

Connect the longest green rod, matching the colors on the rods and connectors. It’s important to put the longest rod in first because otherwise it will be much harder to add later. Check the colored stripe on the rod to be sure it’s inserted completely.

Connect the other two rods as shown below, and again check to be sure that they are inserted fully.

Add your slipcover to the top circle. The slipcover has 3 short elastic loops, 2 medium loops, and one long loop. The long loop goes at the back of the stand.

Hook the short elastic loop opposite from the long loop – from the inside – over the knob on one of the connectors.

Once hooked, you can pull the slipcover up and over the frame.

Loop all 3 of the short elastic loops around, then under, their connector and up onto the knob from behind.

The longer elastic loops on the slipcover are used to stretch the slipcover more tightly. They attach to the 3 ball bungees.

Attach the ball bungee to the “foot” of each leg. Put the bungee’s elastic under the rod. Tuck the ball under the elastic loop. Pull the ball through. The loop goes around the lowest part of the leg.

The medium elastic loops on the slipcover hook around the ball bungees on the sides of the stand. Wrap the elastic loop around the ball once or twice.

The back elastic loop is the longest one. If you would like your slipcover tighter, knot off the elastic loops to make them shorter.

Use the slipcover itself for photography or add fabric or blankets on top. The stand is sturdy and can hold multiple layers. The stand is 50″ wide. If your fabrics aren’t quite wide enough, they will still stay in place over the slipcover, and you can still get good coverage behind your baby.
